OUR STORY

​We are based in Bowral, in the beautiful Southern Highlands area, providing a mobile equine servicing a 60 kms radius (up to Picton and down to Goulburn area). ​

Our director and friendly Veterinarian Dr Maria Diaz has over 18 years of international experience over Europe, USA and Australia. She started her career in 2008 in Ireland where she worked as resident Veterinarian at a Stud & Top Show Jumping facility in Ireland, moving to racing studs like Ballyhane Stud in Ireland and Emirates Park in Australia as a Veterinary Director.

Maria's interest on reproduction brought her to The Netherlands where she spent a year doing embryo transfer and using the latest OPU (Ovum pick-up) and ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) technology in Europe.

Together with her husband Bryan Carlson, well respected within the racing industry moved to the area in 2016 after having children. Maria worked as an associate Veterinary at private practice in Burradoo for over 8 years. The time has come in 2025 when she decided to start GSH Equine Veterinary Services, aiming to provide compassionate, high quality services to her entrusted patients of her care. Maria is proud of maintaining a close and positive relationship with her clients, working together to achieve the best results.

Maria studied Veterinary Medicine in Spain, but has done further exams to obtain her qualifications through the American Veterinary Medical Association in 2012.

We aim to provide a balance of traditional and holistic medical support for optimal health and quality of life outcomes. That vision includes high standards of care, kindness and support towards all our patients and clients.

 

Maria has enrolled into a Postgraduate Diploma in Animal Osteopathy (PG DipAO) with the London College of Animal Osteopathy, a highly respected and recognised globally in the animal healthcare industry.
